The Basics of HTML and it's uses:

Ä HTML stands for HyperText Mark-Up Language and it is the main programming language used on the internet, understood by nearly all computers.  There are many programs that a person can use to write HTML and simplify the web design process.  The most widely available and used program is Notepad, with this simple text editor you can design an entire website!  However there are more advanced programs that eliminate much of the coding needed to build a website such as: Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Ä Since most web designers use a HTML editor like Frontpage a complete understanding of HTML and it's tags aren't necessary.  If you wish to gain a full understanding of HTML and how to code with it by hand try some of links on the right.
